Matthew is one of the great undiscovered Canadian songwriters. His cult following includes Chris Murphy whose band Sloan covered Matthew's Stood Up for their Sloan Party album, as well as Joel Plaskett who cited Matthew's Drifters Raus as a mindbending work of art in Exclaim! magazine.
Matthew was born in Quebec, and landed in Halifax in early seventies, A prolific writer, many early tapes still circulate of the more than 400 songs that Grimson recorded during the late eighties and early nineties. He lived in Europe and Toronto for a while, but is back home now. Live shows currently feature the Grimson, Inc. band.
