A sonic, fanastical, bite-size delight.
"...skewed and slightly off-center pop, but it’s still sound pop."
"With a name like Gordon B. Isnor, you're going to need all the buzz you can get, and his music is good enough to tip the scales... will get your butt wiggling no matter where you may be."
"...since I'm a rapidly-aging geek who can't resist a nicely-turned pop hook (no matter how cheesy), this album utterly charmed me."
"...shows that not everyone that delves into the past should be automatically labelled "retro". Gordon B. Isnor is the exception to the "retro" rule. A great diversion from bland, ordinary indie music!"
"This collection of hip tunes is built on heady melodies..."
If Napoleon Dynamite recorded an album, it might turn out something like this.
Refreshingly different, and ultimately rewarding.
“Always Come Back” would be a hit at both weddings AND bar mitzvahs
Like I said, he's a talented musician. The music arrangements are unpredictable and rich enough. The only help he gets on the album is from flautist Candice Lin; the rest of the music was one-man-banded. I bet Isnor and Aqueduct would get along.
"..like a long lost nugget from the past. This is a great album"
"some real emotion here, and a sense of mystery..."
"...a moody album by all accounts."
"...purposely enigmatic and weird, yet also continually takes that veneer away just enough to show that he's truly talented..."
"...one of those rare records that simply cannot be captured in a mere review; I just don't feel like I've served it full justice."
"...a great alternate soundtrack to "The Breakfast Club"! Strange, unpredictable and offbeat enough to be really interesting!"
